It’s game on at Newcastle’s brand-new sports venue, the Lyrique Bar located on the ground floor of Iris Capital’s newest local development the QT Hotel.
The bar, tucked away in the quaint Lyrique Lane off Perkins Street, provides live viewing of almost every sport on offer from baseball to tennis, cricket, AFL, motorsports, rugby league, horse racing, and more.
“This bar is a great addition to the precinct-style environment taking shape in Newcastle’s East End,” Locky Heffernan, Iris Hunter Operations Manager said.
“Everything is here. There’s a premium hotel which is the QT, there are cafes, a supermarket, residential, transport, and restaurants.
“This bar is an offering that will suit the current residents of Newcastle’s East End as well as guests of the QT Hotel, and people who work in the city, particularly in the new business precinct directly adjacent.
In addition to that, general manager Emma Andrews said the intimate atmosphere of the bar is unlike any other sports venue in Newcastle.
“This really is a premium offering when it comes to sports bars,” she said.
“We have sports live and loud, the TAB, VIP room, and everything you would expect to find in a dedicated sports bar but in a high-end atmosphere which works in with the aesthetic and service level of the QT brand overall.
“And the intimate design of the bar means that while we don’t take private bookings if you come in with 10 or 15 friends you can almost exclusively enjoy the bar to yourselves for the afternoon.”
The Lyrique Bar, respectfully named after the city’s former Lyrique Theatre, is the perfect hotel-style offering to complement Newcastle’s newest five-star accommodation and dining venue. The bar can be accessed by a range of public transport options including the light rail, ferry, and buses.
